Art in the Loft is raising $25,000 for the new program R.E.A.C.H. for the ARTS. A community based program teaching culinary and visual arts to those with special needs. Chuck Bennett
The enthusiasm that these special needs students exhibit in the cooking classes is very inspiring. Anecdotal accounts of things like - a young person who struggled with finding any interest in hobbies or activities attended these culinary classes and found a creative passion for recipes and cooking that carried on after the sessions were over - are very telling. I believe that youngsters' life was changed for the better by the exposure to this opportunity. In another case, Denise Cooper (dedicated leader and instructor of the courses) was conducting a survey of the students after a class. "Would you recommend this class to others?" She asked the class. All but one enthusiastically responded "YES". Concerned about the one child who said no, she asked - "why not - did you not like the class? Why would you not recommend it to others?" "Because" said the child, "we should keep it for ourselves". Let's not keep support of this great program to ourselves - punch the DONATE button and give 5, 10 or how ever many dollars you can, and help us R.E.A.C.H. for the Arts!
