In honor of the black & white theme, Art in the Loft will be graced with a visit from a very special artist, Judith Ann Braun, who will leave her unique fingerprint on Art in the Loft—quite literally. Ms. Braun is a New York artist who is internationally known for her large scale black and white artwork. She creates her detailed, symmetrical art pieces, which she calls “fingerings”, without brushes or tools, using only her hands and fingers and dipped in carbon. Ms. Braun was an ArtPrize finalist in 2015 and her work has appeared in many museums, galleries and private installations. She also been a guest on the reality television show, “Work of Art.” Currently, Ms. Braun is in London for the London Design Festival where she was commissioned to create an installation for Anthropologie, an upscale fashion and home goods company with stores throughout the U.S. and the U.K. In 2015, Braun created a stunning work of art for the New York headquarters of Lululemon Athletica.
Ms. Braun will be onsite at Art in the Loft from October 18-21, creating one of her murals and the public is welcome to stop by and watch her in action. She will be available for Q&A at scheduled times during her visit. The final work will be displayed at the Gala, where she will mingle with guests and give a short presentation. Judith has a fascinating story. She has survived cancer, domestic abuse and other hardships, but her creativity has led to opportunities she couldn’t have imagined. Her energy, good humor and optimistic outlet are incredible. She says that, as an artist, she can build anything. That is just the kind of attitude that our community has adopted in building Art in the Loft. We are delighted that Judith will be sharing her gifts with us as we celebrate the past 15 years and look forward to the future.
